i think raffles would have been proud yet ashamed if he were alive today and saw how his institution and colony have evolved.

i could see people in the combined schools choir slacking. they were OBVIOUSLY not opening their mouths, and just following the motions. and they get 3 bloody cca points just like that. someone should nullify their participation. like go check the videos and see all those who never open their mouth, disqualify them!

i must admit that we have made very good progress for a young nation, but i can't fathom the ironical phrase of "coming a long way". in terms of nation-years, i am hardlty inclined to think that our young nation has come a long way. come again in 200 years and tell me that singapore is still thriving and that we've come a long way and i'll agree with you, but not now.

i agree with joshua. i am really curious as to what singapore will be like in maybe 30 years time. perhaps he has been influenced by albz, but perhaps there is some truth in that malaysia will catch up with us and overtake us.

no nationalism here, but i raelly think malaysian people look different from singaporean people, for all races. there's just this distinctive look, and you can tell. it's the same for people from all countries. you just look at them and you know.

the theme this year is on youth. so surprisingly, we saw many poserish things that the cameramen were all too happy to include in their footage, to give the impression that singapore is hip, cool and funky. breakdancing being one of them. and spraypainting. we also saw at the end many halfnaked jokers who all tried to squeeze in front of the camera to show off their bods.

i feel sorry for the singaporean leaders. i think it's just so sad that they have to be so prim and proper and wave their flags monotonously with blank faces, looking on probably in mental intent on how they so wished that they could be part of the festivities but can't because they have to look all seirous. it's really very sad. and for that, i will never go into politics, cos i can never bear to see myself be like that. then again, being the president seems very easy, no matter what jwong says. just stand in the lorry and wave wave wave as it makes one round. then walk around and talk to four random people in four contingents. and do that every year. gosh. and it's so easy to assassinate him. like in the middle of the field the parade commander pokes his sword into him. and then all the secret CIA agent would suddenly shoot their sniper guns from the roof of the stadium and the parade commander would be killed too. everyone would scream in horror and run and stampede out for the exits. more people dying. ok i'm sadistic and warped.

talking about the car, it's hilarious. the car actually goes out through an entrance after it drops of the pm, it goes out of the stadium and picks up mr president, meanwhile dondang will be playing in the background. it's exactly the same car and the same motorcycles. i think they're probably kept in a shed in the stadium and taken out once every year just for this sole purpose, the leaders sitting in cars that smell fresh all the time cos they've rarely been used.

plus, i'd laugh if any of the people i know now in school become leaders of our country in the future. i mean, we are future leaders of the country right? being rafflesians and all.eh people ah, you all must be more aggresive, if not in this changing economy we all cannot make it ah. save for a few individuals whom i think are good, the rest would just be laughable if they ever were to lead me next time. gosh. imagine PM speaking in that lingo when he was younger, and messing around in the swimming pool changing room after training. how scandalous!! stretch your imagination a bit further and imagine if technology was easily available to the plebeians then as it is now. someone could really blackmail him now eh. HAHA. ok, blah whatever.

many memories came back into my mind as i saw the fudidua. memories of last year's syf opening ceremony. now i know how sucky it is to be in that stuffy uniform. ah well.

gosh, another point to laugh at was the spatulas. gosh. SPATULAS. of all things. what will they think of next? and the molten looking coloured water. cool idea.

hmm. the song was terrible though. sars has been overplayed. can you imagine if sars happened during the national day period? for the first time ever natday would have to be cancelled. but back to the point, actually there is no point. just that i wasn't too keen on the sars segment.

i could catch the flying aeroplanes before they reached the stadium, flying past my house. i could also see the fireworks damn clearly too. there's no building in front of me to block. just a stupid pool of water.

yada. but i do like the nice use of colours thruout the whole thing. especially the nite mass display sequence.

thankfully there wasn't a cheesy display of all our military hardware, although the friendship band was eye-rolling-worthy.

i dunno why i typed all this for. dondang eh sayang~
