eta: watching cruel intentions 2 on tv just now by mere luck of channel surfing was a blast! even though surfing and checking it out on imdb.com and amazon garnered some not too pleasant reviews, etc, it still rocks. guess i have to get my hands on the original version of the show to see how good it is, seeing how everyone praises it (in comparison to its 2 sequels, one of them being a prequel-sequel actually and the other having almost little to no, at best a tenuous link to the original) and benuel lauding and applauding it.
the thought and idea of teenagers from the upper class manipulating and twisting others to their bidding and ruin their originally innocent and fresh-eyed lives just excites and enthralls me. call me sick or whatever (i probably am) but it is very intriguing. transformations always are. from good to bad or bad to good. amazing stuff that captivates and mesmerizes.
now of course such things happen in real life, but maybe not so much in good ol' singapore. i think singaporeans are too bored and lazy to really bother about doing such things. aside from the fact that we are uncreative, boring beings and that we have very little sex on average as compared to the rest of the world. maybe that's a good thing, i don't know. i'm just glad i'm not rich and/or goodlooking, because i'd probably wind up like that too. i mean.. if you don't have outer beauty you better try cultivating your inner one, which i'm desperately trying to do but failing at.
somehow, this movie franchise whilst poking fun at itself by not being serious, is a pretty interesting study into disturbed psyches that relish the destruction of beautiful things. kinda reminds me of trevor in graham greene's short story
the destructors but that was cos he had a good life anymore but no longer had it. whilst these people here are just bored upper class pricks. or like what kathryn complained to sebastian about not just him "fitting in" but her too (even though her vulnerability was only shown for a split second so maybe it's not that important), maybe there is some deeper inner hurt. which brings the chicken-egg question of which came first and why they are like that? does money and riches do such things to people and make them so evil? or is there some other reason?
somehow i think of oscar wilde's
the picture of dorian gray too because of the whole aristocracy upholding depravity thing and the movie seems like a modern, trashy teen interpretation of the book. where it seems that evil will triumph.. or not. oh well. just love this theme. so.
does anyone have the VCD/DVD of cruel intentions (original)?

i've always liked britney songs because they are catchy, have a good beat, and are easy to sing along to as she doesn't have stellar vocals. all that, and not just because she is beautiful.
but when one actually starts listening deeper, and actually RELATES to most of them, and snippets here and there..
there is a HUGE problem.
sometimes i run
sometimes i hide
sometimes i'm scared of you
but all i really want is to hold you tight
treat you right
be with you day and night
like wth, they're pretty inane lyrics. puppy love at 18 is no good. this dog's getting old. with a young heart that needs some maturing. and to stop lingering and harping on things that are years old. in all honesty, i think jack russels aren't the cutest dogs around but i'm not going to bitch.
